The personalised T-mobilitat card allows you to have everything you need for public transportation in the Barcelona area on a single card.

What you need to know about personalised card

If you buy your card on the website, it will arrive deactivated, and you will have to activate it so you can travel with it.

You need to check the activation PIN on this website by beginning a session in your personal area. You’ll find the query button in the “Card management” section.

When you have your PIN, you will be able to activate the card in two ways:

  • Via the T-mobilitat app, if you have a mobile phone with NFC: read the card with the phone, enter the PIN and bring the two items close together again.
  • In a network ticket machine. Bring the card close to the machine’s reader, follow the instructions for entering the PIN and bring the card close again.

  • With the app: through the 'Top up or check’ option in the app; you'll need to hold the card to the back of your phone, choose the ticket you want to purchase, and then hold the card to the phone again to complete the process.
  • At the ticket machines: hold the card to the contactless readers on the metro, train, or tram machines, choose the ticket you want, pay, and then hold the card to the reader again.

Youth profile: they are automatically assigned to all individuals under 30 years old. It allows you to purchase the T-jove.

FM/FN profile: profile that allows purchasing titles for single-parent and large families. It must be accredited either electronically or at a physical network location by presenting:

  • The ID card (DNI), the NIE (foreigner identification number), or the passport.
  • The single-parent or large family pass (family or individual) issued by the Government of Catalonia or the large family passed issued by any other regional government.

The FM/FN profile will be valid during the validity of the single-parent or large family proof document. When this document expires and needs to be renewed, the profile must also be renewed through the same process.

If you have purchased a pass and wish to return it, this can be done within 24 hours from the date of purchase to obtain a refund, provided that it has not been used.

  • If you bought it in person, in a service point or a ticket machine, you must ask for a refund at a customer service and information point of the same operator from which you bought the pass (e.g., if you bought a T-usual at a TMB point, you must return to a TMB point; if you bought the pass at Rodalies, you must return to Rodalies).

One of the advantages of T-mobilitat is the possibility of blocking the card if it is lost or stolen, so that nobody else can use it. You can block a card in these ways:

Once blocked, you can ask for a duplicate card, and on this you can retrieve the pass you had on the lost card, if it was still valid or had journeys left. You need to do this at a physical point, and all you have to pay is the cost of the card (€4.50). Once you have asked for the duplicate, your old card will be completely cancelled.

It is important to bear in mind that blocking a card with a time-limited pass (like T-usual or T-jove) where the time has already started does not pause the validity of the pass. In other words, if you block a T-usual that you have already started to use, and three days pass before you ask for a duplicate, these three days will be used up.

If you end up finding your card and have not yet asked for a duplicate, you have the option of unblocking it, through the personal area of the website or some attention channels; if in doubt, contact us.

With T-mobilitat, fraudulent use of passes will lead to the pass in question being blocked, as well as any minimum charge or sanction imposed. For example, this would apply to a person using a reduced-price pass (T-jove, FM/FN or T-16) without proving their status as a beneficiary or the holder of the pass.

The pass will be blocked by an inspection team and cannot be used, unless the person asks for it to be unblocked by appealing. This can be done using the oficial "Generic request" form of the Generalitat, choosing Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM) Àrea de Barcelona as an addressee organization: together with your details, you must explain in detail the reasons for making improper use of the pass, and attach any documents proving the reasons you give.
