A cardboard T-mobilitat for the most used travel pass

 

The cardboard T-mobilitat card has a specific format for the T-usual title, the most commonly used subscription in the system. Although it can be topped up on your mobile phone or on the personalized T-mobilitat card since 2021, now it is also available for direct purchase at self-service machines without the need for prior registration.

  • Cost: €0.50, plus the price of the purchased T-usual (varies by zones).
  • No registration required.
  • It is rechargeable, but only for the T-usual (of any number of zones).
  • It can be purchased at ticket machines.
  • It has fewer features and advantages compared to the personalised card or mobile option.
  • It is made of cardboard but is equipped with the same contactless validation chip as the personalized card.

What you need to know about T-usual T-mobilitat card

  • With the app: through the 'Top up or check’ option in the app; you'll need to hold the card to the back of your phone, choose the ticket you want to purchase, and then hold the card to the phone again to complete the process.
  • At the ticket machines: hold the card to the contactless readers on the metro, train, or tram machines, choose the ticket you want, pay, and then hold the card to the reader again.

Only T-usual, no matters number of zones.

The T-usual is the only subscription that does not require justification or certification of a special social condition. In other words, it is different from the T-jove, which can only be purchased by individuals under 30, or even the T-usual for single-parent or large families. It is a subscription that can be acquired and used by any citizen.

That's why, although we recommend using it with the personalized T-mobilitat mobile app, which offers more advantages and is a more durable option, we will also offer the possibility to purchase the T-usual for any number of zones on a cardboard card, without the need to register in the system.

However, even if it is not registered in the system, the identity number of the person purchasing it will still need to be identified at the time of purchase from a machine, just like now.

If you have purchased a pass and wish to return it, this can be done within 24 hours from the date of purchase to obtain a refund, provided that it has not been used.

  • If you bought it in person, in a service point or a ticket machine, you must ask for a refund at a customer service and information point of the same operator from which you bought the pass (e.g., if you bought a T-usual at a TMB point, you must return to a TMB point; if you bought the pass at Rodalies, you must return to Rodalies).
  • If the card is within the 6-month warranty period and stops working, you can request a free replacement from a station agent or at a service point. They will provide you with a replacement card with the remaining journeys. The free replacement is available as long as the card has not been damaged due to misuse by the user.
  • If the card is outside the 6-month warranty period and stops working, you can request a duplicate at a service point by paying 0.50€, and you will receive a duplicate while retaining the remaining journeys. If you have no remaining journeys, you can simply purchase a new one from a ticket machine.

With T-mobilitat, fraudulent use of passes will lead to the pass in question being blocked, as well as any minimum charge or sanction imposed. For example, this would apply to a person using a reduced-price pass (T-jove, FM/FN or T-16) without proving their status as a beneficiary or the holder of the pass.

The pass will be blocked by an inspection team and cannot be used, unless the person asks for it to be unblocked by appealing. This can be done using the oficial "Generic request" form of the Generalitat, choosing Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM) Àrea de Barcelona as an addressee organization: together with your details, you must explain in detail the reasons for making improper use of the pass, and attach any documents proving the reasons you give.
