Subsidised T-usual: the pass for unemployed individuals

The subsidised public transport pass for unemployed individuals

The discounted T-usual is a public transport pass intended for individuals who are unemployed and in the process of seeking employment.

It allows unlimited travel for 30 days from the first validation within its validity zone. It is like a regular T-usual but at a reduced price. Its current price is 5.5 €.
The interested individual needs to be registered in T-mobilitat and have a personalised plastic card (€4.5) to top up the pass.
It cannot be topped up on a mobile phone or a cardboard T-mobilitat card.
To access its purchase, the individual needs to prove the Employment profile, meeting specific requirements.

How can I prove my unemployed status?

The first thing you need to ensure is that you can prove your unemployed status. There are three ways to prove unemployment status and access the Employment profile, and consequently, a subsidised T-usual:

SEPE Unemployment Benefit Certificate

The official certificate from the State Public Employment Service (SEPE) that must determine the gross monthly benefits you receive as an unemployed person (the status certificate), which must be lower than the minimum wage (1,381 € gross per month) and indicate until when you will receive them. It can be obtained electronically.

Through this method, you can top up a T-usual for 1 zone.

Proof of job search from SOC

This is an inscription from the Catalonia Employment Service (SOC) that indicates you are actively seeking employment under SOC guidance and justifies the need for a transport pass. Additionally, you must have been registered as a job seeker for a minimum of 12 months in the last 2 years.

This is a procedure that must be done in person at an SOC office and allows you to access a T-usual for the number of zones determined by the SOC, from 1 to 6.

Certificate from a Municipality and DARDE

This method requires that you are not receiving assistance from the State and involves presenting two documents:

• A certificate from a municipality within the scope of the ATM of Barcelona (province of Barcelona) attesting that you receive assistance from social services. Contact the relevant municipality to request the document.

• The Job Demand Document (DARDE), which can be obtained electronically.

Through this method, you can top up a T-usual for 1 zone.

IMPORTANT: Once the corresponding procedure has been completed, whatever it may be, you have 30 days to obtain the transport card. After 30 days, if you have not verified the Employment profile to purchase the discounted T-usual, you will need to complete the procedure again.

How to get the subsidised T-usual

Before proceeding to obtain T-mobilitat and the pass, it's important that you have the documentation proving your unemployment situation, as explained in the previous section. Once you have it, you can follow these steps:

1. Register with T-mobilitat

Enter your information and digital credentials on this website for online transactions, or through T-mobilitat app. You can also register at an customer service office.

*If you already have registration and a plastic T-mobilitat card, you can proceed directly to step 2.

2. Verify the Employment profile

This is the profile within the T-mobilitat system that allows you to purchase the discounted T-usual through the app and vending machines.

You can verify it online from the 'Discounted Profiles' section of your personal area on this website or through T-mobilitat app.

You can also do it in person at a customer service point that handles this process. If you go in person, it's important to bring printed documentation if required.

3. Request a plastic T-mobilitat

Request a personalized plastic T-mobilitat, which costs €4.5 (payable only once). You can request it online through this website, through T-mobilitat app or in person at a customer service point.

*If you already have registration and a plastic T-mobilitat card, you only need to complete steps 2 and 4.

4. Top up the subsidised T-usual

The Employment profile will allow you to top up a subsidised T-usual at any metro, train, or tram ticket machine, through the T-mobilitat app, and at official sales points. You can do this throughout the validity period of the profile, which is a maximum of 90 days before renewal. And you can purchase up to two T-usual passes: the one you use plus a reserve.

5. Renew the profile

To renew the Employment profile and continue to rbe eligible for the subsidised T-usual, you'll need to update the documentation you submitted. When you have documentation with a new validity date, you can submit it online in the 'Subsidised Profiles' section, modifying the Employment profile you already have assigned, or through T-mobilitat app

If you cannot renew the profile due to changes in your situation, keep in mind that T-mobilitat can be used to load any pass, such as a regular T-usual or a T-casual.
