The Mobility Information Management Center

 

Beyond the management of the new system for accessing public transportation and the resulting tariff integration, the T-mobilitat project incorporates another very important aspect: the management of mobility information.

This area is the responsibility of a unit belonging to the Barcelona Metropolitan Transport Authority (ATM) called the Mobility Information Management Center (CGIM), located at the T-mobilitat Center. It is a center that controls, gathers, and channels all the information regarding all modes of public transport in Catalonia, as well as other modes of mobility, and ensures its quality, completeness, and availability.

With this information, the CGIM provides various services to both citizens and operators and administrations.

Coordinate and inform operators and administrations

 

The CGIM plays a role as an informant and coordinator between transport companies and public administrations. As a hub for information, the center is connected to the data sources of operators and has a comprehensive view of the service across the network.

In this regard, leveraging its role as a communication hub and its cross-cutting knowledge of the public transportat network beyond the operating companies, it can provide services related to disruptions. These services allow operators to be notified of third-party disruptions that may impact their service, while also providing the general public with a comprehensive view of how the entire network is functioning.

Operating since 2021, the CGIM is progressively expanding its functions and scope, with the aim of becoming a key player in Catalan mobility.
