T-mobilitat for children under 16

 

The T-mobilitat system offers an independent card for children and adolescents under 16 who use the discounted T-16 pass, the transportation pass that allows minors to travel within their residential area from ages 4 to 16.

  • Cost: €4.50.
  • Requires both the parent/guardian and the child to register
  • Only allows the T-16 pass to be topped up onto the card.
  • When the validity of the T-16 pass expires, the card cannot be topped up.
  • It can be requested online, on this website, and at the Customer service and informacion T-mobilitat Center.

How to request the T-16 card online

Register your details in the system in just a few minutes through this link.

Once we confirm that your registration is correct, log in to access the personal area of this website and go to the section 'Accounts I Manage'.

In this section, you can add the child. You will need to attach their identification documentation, which we will need to verify, so the registration will not be automatic or immediate. Here is the documentation you will need to attach, depending on the case:

  • ID card (DNI): Both sides of the valid ID card of the minor.
  • NIE (Foreigner Identification Number): Both sides of the valid document of the minor.
  • Passport: The page of the valid document where the photograph and data are displayed.
  • Family book: The page that shows the family book number and the page of the child being registered.

When we confirm the registration of the child, you will receive an email informing you that the T-16 profile has been assigned correctly. At this point, you can already request the T-16. Go back to the 'Accounts I Manage' section of the personal area. Access 'Supports' and request a T-mobilitat T-16 card, which will be delivered to the address you provided in 5-10 business days.

 

 

The card will arrive at your home deactivated for security, and you will need to activate it to be able to travel with it.

  1. The responsible person must check the activation PIN on this website by logging into the personal area. You will find the query button in the 'Supports' section of the child, which you can access in 'Accounts I Manage'.
  2. Once you have the PIN, you can activate the card in two ways:
  • Through the T-mobilitat app if you have a mobile phone with NFC: read the card with the phone, enter the PIN, and then bring the two elements close together again.
  • At a ticket machine in the network. Bring the card close to the machine's reader, follow the instructions to enter the PIN, and then bring the card close again.

What you need to know about T-16 on T-mobilitat

The old T-16 stopped working on January 16, 2024.

Families who were already users of the T-16 should have received the new format over the past few months, without needing to carry out any procedures or paperwork. If you have not received the card, please contact our channels

The new format for the T-16 has various advantages compared with the T-16 card of recent years:

  • The card no longer has to be renewed, as the magnetic format one did. If it is not lost, the card can be used until 31 December of the year when the user is 16.

  • If the card is lost or stolen, it can be blocked so it cannot be used by anyone else.

  • duplicate T-16 in T-mobilitat format will cost 4.50 euros, unlike duplicates under the current magnetic system, which cost 35 euros. Duplicates can be ordered if the card is lost or stolen.

In the new contactless T-mobilitat system, if you lose your T-16 card you need to block it so no-one else can use it. Contact us via our customer care channels and we’ll block it for you.

Once it has been blocked, you can order a new one for 4.50 euros via the Accounts I manage section of the personal area of this website or the FGC website, provided you have begun your session with online account credentials of the child’s mother, father or legal guardian.

If you have a problem with the T-mobilitat T-16 and your child can’t travel, talk to public transport staff, who will offer you a provisional solution. Later you can go to the following points for a permanent card exchange:

You can exchange a card when it is defective or has stopped working, as long as this is not due to misuse.

If the problem with the card happens in the TMB or FGC networks, as well as offering a provisional solution, their staff will take your card and ensure that a new T-16 is sent to the family home.

If someone who is not the beneficiary uses the T-16 and this is proved by an inspection team, a penalty may be imposed and the card will be blocked for 3 years, according to the T-mobilitat use conditions, approved by the ATM.

If the person wants to use it again, will have to ask for it to be unblocked by appealing. This can be done using the oficial "Generic request" form of the Generalitat de Catalunya, choosing Autoritat del Transport Metropolità (ATM) Àrea de Barcelona as an addressee organization: together with your details, you must explain in detail the reasons for making improper use of the pass, and attach any documents proving the reasons you give. Frequently asked questions about T-16

If there is a problem and the card does not arrive within 10 working days, contact us via our customer service channels.

Most procedures always have to be carried out by the adult linked to the child’s account or another authorised person. But the child can ask basic questions about the ticket and the support on machines in the network or on their personal area of the T-mobilitat website or contact our customers service channels to block the card if they lose it, or ask for a exchange, if the card doesn’t work.

The T-16 can be used with the T-mobilitat card, not on a mobile phone.

No. No other ticket can be loaded on to the support with the T-16. It will be identified with the child’s name and the term "T-16". 

The T-16 ticket can only be loaded on to the child’s T-16 support.

In person: it can be done by submitting this form with the original and current ID of the minor, the current guardian and the new guardian at a customer service office. 

Online: it can be done by registering a request here, where this form should be attached and electronically signed both by the current and new guardian. It must also attach the original and current ID of the minor, the current guardian and the new one guardian.

There can be two possible situations. On one hand, the support may go wrong after validation, during the journey. In this case, go to one of the in-person customer service points included in the T-mobilitat project and ask for a replacement.
  
On the other hand, the card may go wrong before validation, not allowing the child on to the transport. In this case, the procedure is as indicated in the answer to the previous question.

The T-16 will expire automatically and the support will be deactivated on 31 December of the year the person turns 16. Afterwards, they will have to request an ordinary T-mobilitat card, if they do not have one, and top it up with another appropriate pass (T-jove, T-casual...). You can do this via the personal area of this website.

Yes, they can have both supports. But the one with the T-16 can only be loaded with the T-16 ticket. All other integrated tickets can be loaded on to the other support.

You will get an answer within three months. If your appealing is rejected, you can submit a hierarchical resource during one month after the reject notification, on the same channels. ATM will answer you within three months from the date of the ATM Executive Board meeting.

If the resource is rejected, the card will be blocked for 3 years, according to the T-mobilitat use conditions, approved by the ATM. But keep the card, because you will be able to use it again after the 3 years. You can contact to T-mobilitat customer service channels, and we will unblock the card.

The penalty is imposed by the transport company where the T-16 is misused; the block of the card is ordered by the Barcelona’s ATM, according to the T-mobilitat use conditions. Then, the fact of pay the penalty does not mean that the card will be automatically unblocked.
