T-mobilitat currrently operates through two types of support: the T-mobilitat smartcard and the mobile app (on NFC-enabled Android devices).  

The digitization of travel passes is a step forward in the way we travel by public transport, and the aim is to unify all transport on a mobile phone or personalized card, and to be able to access the public transport network with contactless validation. 

Here are the steps you need to follow to acquire either of the two supports and get travelling!

How do I download the application?

 

You can find the T-mobilitat app in your app store, you can download it for free.

The T-mobilitat app will allow you to recharge your card when your ticket runs out and to check its information, for example how many days or trips you have left. If your phone has NFC, all this can be done very easily by bringing the card and the phone close to each other. 

You can also travel directly with your mobile, if your phone is Android and has NFC, after downloading an extra feature that will allow you to turn your phone into an electronic wallet.

 

  

The T-mobilitat smartcard

 

This is a rechargeable personal smartcard onto which you can top up travel passes. It costs 4.50 euros to purchase, can be used indefinitely, and has a five-year guarantee period. 

  • In person

  1. If you choose the in-person procedure, download the registration form, fill it out and present it at the office you attend, along with your ID card, to complet your registration. You can register and obtain a card on the spot. 

  • Online

  1. To apply for a card online, go to the “Personal Area”.

  2. In the process of acquiring a support, you will also can choose a travel pass, or order it without travell pass.

  3. You will then receive your T-mobilitat smartcard by post. You will have to activate it before using it.

T-mobilitat mobile aplication

 

With the T-mobilitat app, you have your travel pass on your mobile phone and you can validate it directly from an NFC-enabled Android device (OS version 6 or higher). At a cost of one euro you can download the feature that permits travel pass validation. 

  1. Download the T-mobilitat app to your mobile phone.  

  2. If you haven't signed up to T-mobilitat yet, register from this website.

  3. Enter your email address and password to access the “Personal Area” on the website and also to log in to the app.

  4. Go to the “Mobile” section in the app, and from there download the extra feature that allows you to validate passes to access public transport. This has a one-off cost of one euro. 

  5. The “Mobile” section of the menu will now be enabled, and you can add the travel pass to your e-wallet. 

  6. Pass your mobile phone by the contactless validator and off you go!

Activate your card with the PIN

 

If you buy your card on the website, it will arrive deactivated, and you will have to activate it so you can travel with it (except the T-16 card, which is sent activated).

You need to check the activation PIN on this website by beginning a session in your personal area. You’ll find the query button in the “Support management” section.

When you have your PIN, you will be able to activate the card in two ways:

  • Via the T-mobilitat app, if you have a mobile phone with NFC: read the card with the phone, enter the PIN and bring the two items close together again.
  • In a network ticket machine. Bring the card close to the machine’s reader, follow the instructions for entering the PIN and bring the card close again.

The T-16, an independent card

The T-16, an independent card

 

The card available to minors under 16 years old is an independent card from the regular T-mobilitat card and is distinguished by an overprint of the label 'T-16' in the top right corner of the card. It is a card valid only for the T-16 and cannot be topped up with other different travel pass.

Furthermore, the T-16 card cannot be used from a mobile phone, unlike other transport tickets. This discounted travel pass can only be obtained through the dedicated card, which can only be used by the eligible minor.

Another difference is that the T-16 card requested online and delivered by certified mail arrives already activated (the regular T-mobilitat card requires an activation PIN for security reasons) within a maximum of 5-10 business days.
